- Willis Overgaauw, 75, died Monday, March 2, 2009 in Upland, Calif.
Graveside service was held on Saturday, March 7 at Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontario, Calif., with funeral services that same day at The Bridge Church in Chino, Calif.
Pallbearers were Adrienne Bouwman, Michael Overgaauw, Derek Overgaauw, Zachary Overgaauw, Jaron Bouwman, Marlo Overgaauw, and Gary Overgaauw.
Honorary pallbearers were Al Bosch, Terry Myers, Willie Knevelbaard, Dave Van Leeuwen, Ray Robinson, Ronald Schloss, Earl Vander Schaaf.
Willis (Willie) Overaauw was born August 11, 1933 in Woodstock to Marinus and Adrianna Overgaauw. His early childhood years were spent on a farm in Minnesota.
He met his wife of 50 years, Johanna Fikse, after moving to California. They were married on May 9, 1958. They lived in Artesia, Calif., for five years and moved to Ontario to begin a ready mix concrete business. He was the owner of Mission Ready Mix, Inc.
He was a member of The Bridge Church.
He is survived by his wife, Johanna; daughter Joreen Bouwman and son, Gregory Overgaauw, Ontario; daughter-in-law Shelly Overgaauw Guerra, Long Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren; brothers, John (Carol), Mercedes, Texas; Case (Joan), Lakewood, Calif.; Peter (Margie), Kent, Wash.; Adrian (Joann), St. Paul; sisters, Pearl Smith, Pipestone; Wilhelmina (Gilbert) Kuyper, Pipestone; Cornelia Zeinstra, Holland; Jacoba Boersma, Pipestone.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Mark; two sisters and two brothers.
