Simon Plooster passes beyond

Was former Orange City Merchant - Funeral Saturday

Simon Plooster, aged 77, passed away at his home on June 15, 1933, after an extended illness of diabetes and complications. He was up and around until about six weeks ago, since which time he had been confined to his bed.
He was born in the Netherlands on October 21, 1855 and came to America in 1874. For many years he farmed in South Dakota and Iowa and later he was in the dry goods and grocery business in Orange City. On April 28, 1892 he was united in marriage at Harrison, South Dakota to Miss Cornelia Haze who survives him, together with one daughter, Mrs Jacob P. Calsbeek of Orange City, five grandchildren and one brother and three sisters, as follows: James Plooster of Corsica South Dakota, Mrs. E. Van de Brake of Sioux Cener, Mrs S. Schryvers of Lake View, South Dakota,  and Mrs H. J. Brink of Prairie, South Dakota. 
He was a kind and loving husband and father and had been a faithful member of the First Ref. Chruch for many years.
Funeral services took place on Saturday June 17, from the home at 1.30PM and from the First Ref. church at 2 oclock, with Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment was in the Orange City cemetery. The following from out of town attended the funeral: Mrs. E. van de Brake, Mrs. W. Rons, Mr and Mrs Dick Schaap, Mr. J de Groot, Sioux Center, Mr. and Mrs P. Brunsting, Hull, Mr H. P. Haze, and Mr. and Mrs Dick Nieuwendorp, Sheldon.
